The Beginning

Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen.

This is the story of Kitty's journey from London to Reykjavik. The move is months away but this blog will follow me through the planning and visits along my path.

I have been visiting Iceland for 5 years and have been eight times this year already. Its somewhere I have wanted to live for some time and I am finally on my way to doing so. I have wonderful friends there and I am looking forward to finally being their neighbour, at least for half a year.

The move means leaving my life here in London for a while and that in itself makes me feel a little strange. But people come and go and as it happens I have discovered a good few of my friends here have reached their London limit and are disappearing to various corners of the globe for a while anyway.

The current plan is to stay in London until Christmas then move back to Devon for three months, live with my Mum in order to save money to bring over with me. I aim to be in Reykjavik until at least October 2006. But these are preliminary plans and my boss has already thrown a random spanner in the works by offering to fund my trip if I stay in London until March. None of this is concrete and the various decisions I have to make will appear on here.

Those of you who know me will know the random fun and adventures I have had whilst in Iceland or here with my Icelandic friends, those of you who don't know me will have to keep an eye on this site. There will be much fun and mayhem including being filmed for a documentary covering the Iceland Airwaves festival held each October.

Dont go away for too long, you wouldn't want to miss out....
